Sound System Design

Sound system design is a highly specialized aspect of acoustical design. Electrical amplification, public address systems, sound recording, video and film recording and playback equipment, monitoring facilities, and simultaneous translation equipment must be designed and incorporated to meet clearly defined needs. At the same time, due consideration must be given to the total acoustical properties of the project structures. Provision must also be made for the rapid and ongoing advances in sound and visual equipment technology.

Outline of Service Phases

1. Programming

  1. Study and establishment of characteristics, management and budget of facilities
  2. Study of necessary function and grade of the equipment
    (sound system)
  3. Establishment of the design goal
  4. Preparation (making) of system plan
  5. Preparation of rough estimate of project construction costs
  6. Study and adjustment of matters relevant to architecture and sound system

2. Schematic Design and Design Development

  1. Preparation of design drawings and specifications
    • Particular specification
    • Arrangement plan of equipment (sound system)
    • Wiring and piping diagram
    • Distribution diagram of machinery (building services)
    • Distribution diagram of equipment (sound system)
    • Installation plan of machinery
  2. Preparation of detailed estimate of project construction cost

3. Construction

  1. Finalize construction documents
  2. On-site inspection
  3. Acoustical check with measurements

4. Fine-tuning

5. User Orientation
